In vitro fertilization (IVF)

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Procedure Checklist

Initial Consultation and Inspection

Have an initial consultation with your fertility doctor to schedule basic tests for both partners (if applicable), such as hormone testing, semen analysis, and uterine and ovarian evaluations.

1

Ovarian stimulation (ovulation shots)

Women are given daily hormone injections for about 8-12 days to promote the maturation of multiple follicles, which are followed up with regular ultrasounds and blood draws.

2

Egg Collection Surgery

Once the follicles have matured, the eggs are retrieved by a surgeon in a painless procedure that takes about 15-30 minutes.

3

Sperm Collection and Fertilization

The male provides a semen sample and the laboratory fertilizes the egg with sperm to form an embryo (or by ICSI single sperm microinjection).

4

Embryo Culture and Observation

Embryos are cultured in the laboratory for about 3-6 days and can be PGT-A Gene Detection(if chosen) to pick healthy embryos.

5

Embryo implantation (embryo transfer)

The process of selecting the best embryo for implantation into the woman's uterus is painless and similar to a regular gynecological examination.

6

Luteal Support and Waiting for a Pregnancy Test

After implantation, luteinizing hormone is used to support the lining of the uterus while waiting about 10-14 days for a pregnancy test.

7

Pregnancy Tests and Early Pregnancy Tracking

If successful, the patient is followed for the first trimester until transfer to the OB/GYN's care.
